Silicon Line Brings HDMI 2.0 Products to Market

March 17, 2014 – Silicon Line is now sampling our new products for HDMI 2.0 active optical cables which need no external power supply.

Silicon Line is already well established as a reliable supplier of optical HDMI 1.4 products. Now, the new HDMI 2.0 standard has now been finalized and HDMI 2.0 equipped Blu-ray players and TV sets supporting 4k display resolutions are coming to the market.

To support this new standard, Silicon Line is now sampling our latest HDMI 2.0 products. The SL82829 is an ultra-low power four channel VCSEL driver designed for HDMI 2.0 applications using datarates of up to 6 Gbps per channel. The SL82819 is the corresponding four channel transimpedance amplifier.

Most current HDMI active optical cables require an external power supply provided either by a USB connector or by a separate AC adapter. In contrast, due to their extremely low power consumption, these two new Silicon Line devices enable HDMI 2.0 active optical cables which require no additional external power supply. They also enable longer and thinner active optical cables and support the new 4K TVs.
