Company description

Silicon Line is an established leading global provider of innovative ultra-low power optical link technology for mobile and consumer electronics markets. Silicon Line products enable the power-efficient optical transportation of video, images, voice and data at the multi-gigabit speeds demanded by both today and tomorrows digital consumer lifestyles. We produce a wide range of single channel and four channel VCSEL drivers and TIAs ranging in speed from 20 Mbps to 12.5 Gbps. The industry leading ultra-low power consumption of our products makes them ideally suited for consumer as well as datacom/telecom, industrial, security and medical applications. We also produce dedicated chip products for USB3.0, USB3.1, HDMI1.4, HDMI2.0 and MIPI DPHY applications.

Today’s consumers have an ever-expanding expectation of higher resolution images and videos as well as high-speed data transfer to storage devices. Conventional electrical cables for these standards tend to be bulky, heavy and limited in length to 1m or so depending on the data rate. Low cost, low power active optical cables are therefore starting to replace electrical cables in these applications. Silicon Line is playing a key role in this process by making available both ICs and modules which allow quick and easy manufacture of these new active optical cables. A manufacturing site for IP critical optical components for the modules has been established in Hasselt, Belgium. The Hasselt unit will grow with production to around 25 people. Silicon Line is a privately held company. The headquarters are in Munich, Germany and we have offices in Hongkong, Japan and Taiwan as well as the US.
